On Sunday 4th of February Antonio Paolucci passed away in Florence.
Antonio Paolucci was an art historian and museum curator. He worked as the superintendent of the Polo Museale Fiorentino and the director general for cultural heritage in Tuscany before serving as a director of the Vatican Museums for ten years. He also held the position of Minister of Cultural Heritage from 1995 to 1996 under the government of Lamberto Dini.
He pursued also his research work and prepared numerous papers and monographs devoted to Piero della Francesca, Michelangelo and Filippino Lippi among others.
Antonio Paolucci was connected with IRSA as a member of the Advisory Committee of “Artibus et Historiae” journal.
